About Us

Who We Are

The American New Church Sunday School Association (d/b/a Swedenborgian Church Children's Ministries, or SCCM), founded in 1867, is the oldest continuing Sunday School Association in North America. It serves as a central body for the promotion and distribution of educational materials for Sunday Schools in the United States and Canada. We are thankful for the efforts of all those who have gone before us and kept alive the vision of the importance of religious education for children.

Mission Statement

It is our mission to assist and encourage Sunday Schools of the General Convention of the New Jerusalem in maintaining effective programs and religious education based on the Word interpreted in the light of the doctrines given for the New Jerusalem by the Lord through Emanuel Swedenborg.

The Association Continues to Grow

The SCCM is continuing its commitment to children using the technology of the 21st century. Through this website we are compiling a user-friendly database of lesson plans for teachers and links to other useful websites and publications. This website is for you, the teachers and students, and the association wants to be responsive to your needs.
